KUM Faded | Watercolour brushes for the highest demands
KUM Faded – 100% handmade to perfection in Germany – A brush that is second to none.
Made from a mixture of two different high-tech synthetic fibers!
The softer of the two fibers consists of an ideal mixture of different fiber diameters. This guarantees an extremely high water and ink absorption capacity as well as an even delivery of the medium. The stiffer fibers are stabilized by a special hardening process and thus offer more elasticity and control when working with the brush. The matte black handle gives the brushes an elegant, minimalist and timeless design.
The KUM Faded Brushes are a MUST-HAVE for every watercolor artist!

Handmade in Germany
Making a brush requires the utmost care and an extraordinary degree of craftsmanship.
A brush like the Faded is truly a masterpiece!
The various synthetic fibres, mixed by hand, give the brush its extraordinary characteristic.
The fact that we were able to develop such an outstanding watercolor brush is due to our experience and the cooperative partnership with artists.
KUM Faded | what makes it the perfect watercolor brush?
Many of the synthetic brushes available on the market are designed to resemble natural hair. Popular models for synthetic variants are, for example, the Kolinsky hair or the fairy hair.
However, when developing our Faded Brush, the focus was not on imitating a natural hair as closely as possible. Rather, we have oriented ourselves to the needs of the artists.
The Faded offers a perfect balance between hardness and resilience. We define its degree of hardness as medium-soft, i.e. exactly in the middle between conventional watercolor brushes, which are either very soft or, like the Kolinsky hair and its replicas, are a little harder.
The fibers of the Faded Brush provide:
- a perfectly shaped tip,
- precise brush control,
- a very high ink absorption capacity,
- an excellent suitability for a variety of watercolour techniques,
- and a balanced degree of hardness – not too hard, not too soft.
