For mechanical pencils with 2 mm and 3.15 mm leads — sharpens the lead without breaking it.
A lead sharpener doesn't sharpen a pencil, it sharpens the bare lead of a mechanical pencil. With no wood supporting it, the lead breaks easily — almost always when sharpened by hand.
These models are tuned exactly to 2 mm and 3.15 mm and guide the lead through a controlled cut instead of pressing it against the blade.
