Hey there, my name is Anastasia, I am 31 years old and a freelance artist from Germany. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing & painting and over the years I tried a lot of different painting techniques. I started to paint with watercolors in 2019 and instantly fell in love with these light and flowing paints. By now I combine watercolors with black fineliner and my favorite motifs to draw are flowers in all their different colors & shapes. For more tutorials & inspiration you can visit my Instagram account @handgemalt.

  1. Step 1

    Paper and frame

Cut your watercolor paper (at least 300 gsm) in a rectangular shape and draw a square & the first flower with a black waterproof fineliner.

  2. Step 2

    The meadow

Draw a little meadow scene within the square with your favorite flowers.

  3. Step 3

    First layer

Apply the first watercolor layer with a round watercolor brush (KUM Memory Point, size 4 or 6) which should be not too dark.

  5. Step 5

    Background

Now you can use your KUM French Aqua brush (size 6) to paint your watercolor background. Apply clear water in between your flowers and then use the wet-in-wet technique to paint your background.

  6. Step 6

    Speckles and a kind word

Finally you can add some speckles & some kind words to finish your greeting card.
